The problem
Most executive media training happens reactively. The journalist call comes in on Tuesday. The fundraise gets announced Thursday. The keynote slot opens up next month. Suddenly there's a scramble — find a coach, refresh the messaging, run a few mock interviews, hope the spokesperson holds up.
It works, mostly. But it's expensive, stressful, and the prep is shallow because there's no time to do it properly.
The leaders who handle press well don't prep when the moment arrives. They stay 80% ready year-round, so when the moment comes, they only need a top-up.
Press Ready
A productized engagement designed to keep B2B tech executives media-ready year-round — so when the press cycle, fundraise, board meeting, or keynote arrives, the foundation is already in place.
What's included
- Pre-work (async)
- Review and refinement of current messaging — key messages, proof points, anticipated tough questions, traps to avoid.
- The session (4 hours, in person or remote)
- Live practice interviews with a working journalist's cadence, recorded for playback. On-camera reps. Mock Q&A under realistic conditions.
- Two debriefs
- One with the spokesperson on delivery, presence, and message discipline. One with the comms or marketing team on what surfaced and what to operationalize.
- The field kit
- A one-page reference document — message hierarchy, do's and don'ts, the three or four hardest questions and how to answer them. Built to be re-read in five minutes before any press call.
- One follow-up call
- Within 14 days, to debrief any real-world media interactions and adjust.
Cadence and pricing
Annual or bi-annual baseline
$5,500 per executive, per session.
Most clients run this once a year. Some run it twice for high-velocity periods — post-funding, IPO prep, category launches.
Refresher add-ons
$1,500–$2,500 per session.
Booked when a specific moment is on the calendar — a major interview, an analyst day, a board presentation. Builds on the existing baseline rather than starting from scratch.
Multi-executive engagements (founding team, leadership team) are priced individually based on scope and number of spokespeople.
Who this is for
- Series B–D B2B tech companies preparing for press cycles, fundraises, category launches, or category-defining moments.
- Founders and CEOs who need to be camera-ready and quotable but don't have time for ongoing coaching engagements.
- Heads of Communications and CMOs who want their leadership bench ready to be deployed at short notice — not scrambling to prep when an opportunity hits.
Probably not the right fit if
You're pre-Series A and haven't built out a comms function yet, you need long-term ongoing coaching (vs. periodic readiness), or you're looking for crisis communications support specifically. Happy to refer to specialists in any of these cases.
About
I've spent 20 years inside the comms functions of companies that built distinctive narratives at scale — most recently at Cloudflare, and before that at Salesforce, Quantcast, and LinkedIn. I've worked with founders, CEOs, and leadership teams through fundraises, product launches, IPOs, and the press cycles that defined market positions.
Press Ready is built on the observation that the best-prepared spokespeople I worked with weren't the ones who trained the hardest before a big moment — they were the ones who'd done the work months earlier, so the moment didn't require heroics.
I work with a small number of clients at a time, and only with companies and leaders where I think I can genuinely move the needle. If the fit isn't right, I'll say so.
